The Polestar signals a new way to navigate the High Street; a means of unifying community and commercial sensibilities; supporting the union and collaboration of residents with makers, entrepreneurs and business owners. The Polestar stands as a marked destination inviting visitors to navigate and
understand the High Street and its surrounding area. A place to seek out information, share
neighbourhood knowledge and promote a sense of wellbeing and belonging. A new type of information centre The Polestar aims to place individual High Streets and their surrounding communities on their own map showcasing makers, benefitting business and highlighting the local shops, amenities and forthcoming events. The designated space will act as a one stop guide for visitors, providing and sparking new conversations between different cultures within the community.
The Polestar is a low budget semi-permanent retail pop-up which facilitates the regeneration
required to energise and mobilise our current ailing British High Street. Welcoming local British residents and those of incoming global cultures, The Polestar acts as a cultural bridge inviting all to collaborate both creatively and commercially and to embark on the journey to grow a strong identity together. The project provides the opportunity to observe the relationship between places through global twinning of areas that share a commonality. In a similar way that traditional cities are joined with foreign towns to unify cultures and support a common goal or shared interest.
The Polestar acts as a guide to benefit the neighbourhood and identify a community.
