Invisible Design - Ikea / RCA Research Collaboration

Marcus Engman, Head of Design for Ikea, invited RCA Interiors to collaborate with Byredo scent designer, Ben Gorham to develop products for the home which can start to introduce scent into everyday objects.

The RCA staff, including Prof Graeme Brooker, Dr Harriet Harris, Steve Jensen, Ian Higgins, Seetal Solenki and Peter Higgins worked with Ikea designers, Byredo and 50 RCA students to develop products such as, scented household tape, pollution reducing blinds and musical scent & memory player.

The products were introduced in Almhult on Democratic Design Day in 2018, and the products are under development before going into production.
