A PICTURE OF HEALTH
Community development exhibition.
Low budget exhibition design for artist Charlotte Mew and NHS Community Development, designed to demount, pack up and be stored in a nurses car.
This exhibition is the culmination of a Cross Generational Project which aims to celebrate the contribution made by local people employed in the NHS in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. Through a series of Reminiscence Workshops and interviews, individuals shared their personal memories and experiences from their working lives. Many had come to the UK from overseas, leaving home at a young age to live and work in a country with a very different culture. The artist also met with local school children, who together with young patients from St Georges Hospital produced illustrations inspired by these reminiscences. The whole is a selection of edited highlights stitched together in order to tell their story.
